Daphne’s words

About Daphne

Throughout my life I have turned to writing for guidance and strength. I started really exploring the art in high school. I never stopped, and hope I never will. It is an ever-changing and growing part of my life, and at the same time the constant that has taught me to experience life from moment to moment, and spend time understanding those experiences. To me, writing is a form of expression, open to many interpretations. I began this blog in hopes of sharing my experiences with you through my writing, and opening a forum for those who see writing as I do. I look forward to your comments and criticisms. Enjoy!

Some of  My Favorite Poems

FIRE AND ICE

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

-Robert Frost

ALWAYS MARRY AN APRIL GIRL

Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true –
I love April, I love you.

-Ogden Nash

“NATURE” IS WHAT WE SEE

668

“Nature” is what we see—
The Hill—the Afternoon—
Squirrel—Eclipse—the Bumble bee—
Nay—Nature is Heaven—
Nature is what we hear—
The Bobolink—the Sea—
Thunder—the Cricket—
Nay—Nature is Harmony—
Nature is what we know—
Yet have no art to say—
So impotent Our Wisdom is
To her Simplicity.

-Emily Dickinson

CAUSE AND EFFECT

the best often die by their own hand
just to get away,
and those left behind
can never quite understand
why anybody
would ever want to
get away
from
them

-Charles Bukowski
